Palm oil producers face challenges in gaining the confidence of consumers and markets by assuring them that the palm oil purchased and utilized originates from oil palm plantations that are sustainably managed and complying with the RSPO Principles and Criteria. Since it is essential to trace the flow of the certified sustainable palm oil in the downstream industries of palm oil such as food, nutraceuticals, oleochemicals, biofuel, a certification scheme on supply chain of the RSPO certified palm oil has been established. This is to ensure that the consumers are not mislead by claims made by producers whose palm oil products are not RSPO Supply Chain certified and not originating from sustainably managed plantations.
