SIRIM ACTIVATES SAFETY MEASURES FOLLOWING STAFF CONFIRMED COVID-19

SHAH ALAM, 11 MARCH 2020: Following one confirmed case of Covid-19 affecting an employee in its headquarters here on Tuesday, SIRIM has activated appropriate public safety measures to prevent any potential risks of the virus spreading further.
The affected areas and common compound have been sanitized. We are also taking additional steps such as providing hand sanitizers at public areas in all SIRIM buildings here and at SIRIM state offices, screenings of visitors at entry points as well as increasing the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting of high traffic and usage areas on a daily basis.
Employees who were in close contact with the affected employee have also undergone screenings and tests as per the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and had started self-quarantine for 10 days.
SIRIM offices at other locations are not affected however similar preventive actions are being taken.
We will remain vigilant amid the Covid-19 threat and continue to take necessary measures to safeguard the well-being of our employees, customers and stakeholders.

NOTICE ON SUSPENSION OF WORK ASSIGNMENT OUTSIDE MALAYSIA
Dear Valued Customer,
Following the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-190) outbreak, the safety of our clients and our employees is our highest priority. The management of SIRIM QAS International has decided to suspend all work assignments outside Malaysia effective 5 March 2020 to 31 March 2020.
We will continue to monitor developments on the COVID-19 outbreak and will update you on any changes on our travel advisory for work assignments.
